About the role:

The Prismatic platform puts an enormous amount of power in the hands of less-technical users, providing them a cohesive system for developing, testing, deploying, and monitoring integrations. This makes infrastructure a key part of shaping product capabilities and user outcomes, making this a unique opportunity for engineers who want their work to have direct product impact. The system is hosted in AWS, automated with Terraform and GitLab CI, with TypeScript used heavily across backend services, both internal and public-facing.

We're looking for a Senior Engineer who is excited to work as part of a fully remote team to build new internal and public-facing services, improve performance and observability, and scale our platform to support a growing team and product. We expect every engineer to contribute thoughtful, meaningful code and participate in architectural and design discussions that span the full stack. In this role you'll participate in technical decision-making, planning, and mentorship of others interested in learning more about our infrastructure. You'll collaborate with other backend engineers as well as folks in security and support, with opportunity for impact across the entire product.

You will...

  • Write clean, maintainable, production-ready code that meets high-quality standards both within the core Infrastructure and related parts of the Prismatic Product.
  • Lead projects from conception through production deployment
  • Support and empower a cross-functional team of engineers, designers, product managers and business stakeholders
  • Collaborate and contribute as a member of a full-stack product development team
  • Create strong developer experiences through our dashboard, documentation, APIs, and SDKs
  • Discover and advocate for new techniques and technologies to accelerate improvements in the reliability and scalability of Prismatic
  • Participate in the Platform On-Call rotation
  • Routinely provide sound feedback in code reviews, design reviews, security reviews, etc.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced teammates as you build domain expertise
  • Be part of a highly collaborative, fully remote team that ships new code into production every day

You might be a good fit if you...

  • Have 5+ years of progressive experience in professional software development, with a track record of technical leadership and architectural contributions, ideally in startups.
  • Have experience implementing AWS-based Cloud Infrastructure using Infrastructure-As-Code technologies like Terraform and Docker.
  • Have experience in the Javascript / Typescript, and Python ecosystems.
  • Have hands-on experience building for, and operating FaaS environments like AWS Lambda.
  • Demonstrate expertise building and evolving large-scale, distributed production systems
  • Enjoy tackling complex CI/CD scenarios.
  • Are committed to working in a communicative and collaborative environment
  • Write code that can be easily understood by others, with an eye towards maintainability
  • Are a strong advocate for engineering excellence, automated testing, and other engineering best practices
  • Have experience, and opinions, on how to best use AI Coding agents to accelerate your work.

Pay range:

  • The pay range for this role is $170,000 - $195,000/yr USD
